Modelling of complex situations

In complex situations, it is often difficult to make specific predictions about events even though the theories that relate to the situation are generally accepted.

Predicting the weather, or where a particular substance will go if released into the environment, are examples. In such situations, scientists often use computer models to help them make predictions.
