Welcome to Science in Society
Science in Society is an interesting and topical GCE advanced level course, which will be available for teaching from September 2008. It aims to develop the knowledge and skills that are needed for students to understand how science works, analyse contemporary issues involving science and technology and communicate their scientific appreciation and understanding to others.
This site is being developed to provide, in conjunction with the textbook, a full range of resources for teaching the course. We are developing these resources and will be adding them to this site on a regular basis. In the meanwhile the SPU site contains a range of appropriate resources.
Highlights
A2 textbook
Now that the AS textbook is nearly complete, work has started on a textbook for the A2 course to be ready for when teaching starts in 2009.
AS textbook written and with publishers
The textbook for the AS course is now written and will be published by Heinemann on the 30th June 2008.
Science for Public Understanding course
The specification for AS Science in Society has been developed by building on the current AS Science for Public Understanding course.
