Learning skills for science

Following the success of the Key Stage 4 Learning Skills for Science pilot, the Nuffield Curriculum Centre have embarked on a new subject specific Learning Skills for Science project with the Gatsby Science Enhancement Project to support skills development at Key Stage 5.

By August 2008, activities which develop the skills for:

• Information Retrieval
• Listening and observing
• Scientific reading
• Data representation
• Scientific writing
• Knowledge presentation

will be available written in the context of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Applied Science and Science in Society ‘A’ level qualifications.

Training events for teachers wishing to use these materials will be announced in the Summer term this year.
